Throughout the plant kingdom, the thorn is both ornament and warning—a purposeful weapon grown from living matter. Artist George Sellers magnifies this botanical defense into an object of ritual and utility, creating a letter opener that feels elongated, primitive, and faintly dangerous, as though cut from the stem of some impossible plant. Each piece is cast in solid bronze at a small foundry in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, then individually hand-finished by artisans, preserving the irregularities, texture, and evidence of the maker’s hand.

George Sellers is a Dallas-based fine artist and master sculptor whose work spans art, design, and extraordinary object-making.
