"Fall, specifically October, is one of my favorite months of the year. Summer's heat has pushed mother nature to her limits and fall is her last big hurrah before she packs it in for the winter. It will come as no surprise that one of my favorite aspects of the season is its unmistakable smell. Of course, this will vary on where you live, but even city dwellers will catch a whiff of dried leaves on route to the subway. And for those lucky enough to live in rural areas, you're steeped in the olfactive soup that makes up the Season of the Witch. In honor of my favorite time of the year, we are re-releasing one of my most beloved and original fragrances: Poltergeist." - DL

This magical blend of woods, roots, and resins is available in 50mL size for a limited time (or as a 10mL rollerball in October's Monthly Edit if you're an email subscriber!)

Listen to our podcast episode where Heretic Founder/Perfumer Douglas Little tells the story behind Poltergeist Eau de Parfum, what inspired it and how it came to be:

Contrary to popular belief, this fragrance did not get its name from Spielberg's 1982 horror film. Merriam Webster's definition of Poltergeist is: a noisy, usually mischievous spirit held to be responsible for unexplained noises. And just like its name, this plant-based perfume is a noisy troublemaker, but only in the best possible way. It's a bold scent for the wild and untamed spirit.

"This perfume was created to capture the scent of a campfire in a damp forest, hot and cold pockets of wooded air as you speed along the I-95 North on your motorcycle, worn leather jackets and just a hint of motor oil" - DL. Unlike other smoky fragrances that dry into musk, this is equal parts green and smoke. Its most pronounced note is Artemisia Absinthium, also known as wormwood. This also happens to be the key ingredient in the nefarious drink absinthe, and what gives Poltergeist its intense color and herbal overtones.
