“Dr. Ash Ranpura: The Neuroscience of Scent”
While in London, Heretic founder/perfumer Douglas Little had the wonderful opportunity to chat with neuroscientist and clinical neurologist Dr. Ash Ranpura about the fascinating intricacies of the human brain when it comes to how we process scent. Ranpura has been active in brain research for over 25 years, receiving his bachelor’s degree from Yale, his M.D. from The Medical College of Ohio and carrying out PH.D. research at the institute of cognitive neuroscience in Queen Square, London. He is a sought-after public speaker, addressing audiences ranging from the American Medical Association to the British Army, and has been a writer and host on radio programs for BBC Radio and more. He has recently co-authored a book on mindfulness and neuroscience with Ruby Wax and Gelong Thubten entitled How To Be Human: The Manual. You can also find our podcasts on Spotify and iTunes.
